To look at the website, you may think I'm not writing. I am...ye gods, I am. I had hoped to put more stories on the website. It's basically what I've been promising, but writing is a funny thing. I'm doing it...you just can't have all of it.
The last few months I've been working on a personal project and trying to backlog stories for the 2020 edition of the Secret Short Story Society. Since there will be a digital version, I need to work out the gremlins that may live within the system. Let me tell you, those gremlins are REAL and they do not play around. Those who were part of my newsletter have already received July's digital S4, Slaying Dragons. There were many, many delays and we had to work a compromise between stylish formatting and getting the damnable story out. We got it out, but I hold the belief that it could be better presented. This month's story will go out on the 15th, assuming all of said gremlins were vanquished. If you want in, all digital subscriptions are free until the end of this year. You just need to sign up! You get free stories and the ability to tell me how to make the experience better for the reader. It's a win/win. I have a few other projects that will surface in 2020 that I'm also hard at work on. This means the website isn't just taking a backseat, but I may have left it at the gas station during the last bathroom break. I WANT to give you stories, but I need to find a way to make my hobby become my job. There are fun things coming and I'm very excited to share what I can. First is that the story I was working on with Fairies and Finds is getting a bit more of a push. We had to table it due to conflicting schedules, but I have been told the last few images will go up soon and I can start working on the novel/novella! In other novel news, it seems that last month's S4 story really wanted to be a bigger piece. Once I got feedback from readers, I hinted there could be a novel in the works. The overwhelming response told me I was on to something. I'm already salvaging what I can from the story and putting together the pieces to ensure the story becomes what it had always wanted to be. I've had to put aside querying and submitting for a while. The big dream is to one day have an agent that would be willing to take on my better work in all genres, but the time and energy it takes to get one is not something I have right now. I'm focusing on the writing and plan to be back in the publishing game in a year or so. I am hoping to take some of my S4 stories and collect them for those who may not have been with us from the beginning. Should that happen, I will absolutely let you know. Self-publishing my work won't make me a millionaire, but I feel it would be a good way for people to sample some of my writing without needing to spend hours on the website. 2020 holds some secrets too. I'm not able to talk about everything just yet, but once the seal is able to be broken, you will know all about it! The words are flowing and I can't wait to share more of them with you!
